Pavel Jiříček graduated from the Pedagogical Faculty in Ostrava in mathematics – physics (1965). In the last year of his university study, he started working as a teacher at a basic school.

In1970, he joined a business organization Nábytek Brno as a manager of the sales storehouse and economic center. While his work, he finished his studies at the Faculty of Economics, VSB Technical University in Ostrava (1982).

From January 1998, he was employed as an assistant professor at the School of Business Administration in the Department of Finance at the Silesian University. In 2002, he retired; since then, he has worked here as an external lecturer.
