Irena Szarowská belongs to the first graduates of the SBA SU in Karvina – she finished her university study in 1995. She worked in a leasing company and after that in Ceskomoravska Hypotecni Banka as a business manager. In September 2005, she started her doctoral study programme in Economics and Management at the SBA SU.
In the Department of Finance at the School of Business Administration of the Silesian University in Karvina, she has been employed as an assistant professor since March 2005. Since september of 2008 she has been the Deputy Head of the Department of Finance. She lectures in courses and Public Finance B, she leads seminars in courses Money, banking and Financial Markets and Corporate Finance A. She lectures regularly issues of public finance at foreign universities.
