In 1990, School of Business Administration began its teaching in four bachelor majors: Marketing and Management in Business Activity, Entrepreneurship in the Tertiary Sphere, Economics of Tourism, and Social and Retraining Management. Financial majors had their origin in the specialization Finance and Banking in Business and Services, where first university students were accepted in the academic year 1993/1994. It was already during the first re-accreditation of majors, when the name of the specialization was adjusted to Finance and Banking, and since the academic year 1995/1996, university students have been able to opt for the specialization called like this. The first graduates of these financial specializations left the faculty in the year 1998.

A significant change, as for the financial majors at School of Business Administration in Karviná, has been taking place since the year 1996/1997: to the existing two accredited majors Economics of Entrepreneurship in Business and Services and Social Management, the major Finance with the specialization Banking is added. Within the major Finance another three accredited specializations have been offered to persons interested since the academic year 1998/1999: Financial and Customs Administration, Financial and Postal Services and Corporate Finance. All majors are still offered in the bachelor study.

In the following years, the significant changes in the study programmes took place. Since the academic year 1999/2000, the Master study programme Finance with majors Banking, Financial and Customs Administration and Financial and Postal Services has been accredited; these majors and a major Corporate Finance are also offered within the bachelor study programme Finance. Since the academic year 2000/2001, a new adjusted qualification of study programmes and majors has come in force of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Within the study programme Economic Policy and Administration at School of Business Administration, two master majors were offered (Finance, Banking) along with four bachelor study programmes (Finance, Banking, Financial and Customs Administration, Financial and Postal Services). Within the study programme Economics and Management, a major and bachelor major Corporate Finance was offered afterwards. Since the academic year 2001/2002, master study programmes have been added, i.e. majors Finance and Banking in the study programme Economic Policy and Administration. The last applicants were accepted into these majors in the academic year 2004/2005.

Since the academic year 2004/2005, restructured study programmes have been implemented. Within these, in the study programme Economic Policy and Administration, a majors Finance and Banking are accredited in both, bachelor and master study. In the bachelor study programme Economics and Management, a major Corporate Finance is accredited. Since 2007/2008 all majors are offered in new structure including brand new courses and higher share of compulsory courses.

It follows from the above mentioned that the group of graduates of financial majors and specializations is very diverse. Moreover, in the 1990s there was a broad optionality of subjects and a great number of university students especially of the major Marketing and management opted for financial subjects. The available number of graduates of financial majors and specializations are as follows:
