Study Majors

The most courses offered by the Department of Finance are professionally-oriented and specific courses included in the study majors guaranteed by the Department. Besides these courses we also teach courses that are obligatory for all students of the School (Money, banking and financial markets or Corporate Finance) or for many study majors (Financial analysis, Payments and transactions, Public finance or International financial institutions)

The Department guarantees the following majors.

GRADUATE PROFILE

BSc. in Finance
A graduate who has completed the bachelor degree in Finance has elementary theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of financial markets, investment, international and public finance and other disciplines of contemporary financial theory and practice. The analysis of all mentioned areas during the studies is conducted in the context of domestic and international economic policy especially from the view of the membership of the Czech Republic in the European Union and future entry into the euro area. A graduate is able to individually obtain, interpret, report and properly analyze all the findings about development of the financial system. A graduate is able to identify and formulate the problems and propose appropriate solutions. A graduate has good prepositions for work on middle and lower management positions in various private and public institutions, industry or sector of financial and other service. All the knowledge and skills gained qualify the graduate to study at graduate level.

BSc. in Banking
A graduate who has completed the bachelor degree in Banking gains elementary theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of banking, insurance, monetary policy and other disciplines of contemporary financial theory and practice. The emphasis is put on modern methods of management in banking, respecting of legal acts and ethics, active knowledge of English and information technologies. The skills gained allow the graduate to apply them in practice in a professional manner. A graduate is able to obtain and interpret information and data about development in banking sector in accordance with contemporary financial theory. A graduate is also able to report information to general public, formulate tasks and contribute to their solving. A graduate usually works for banks and other financial institutions at middle and lower management positions. Moreover, a graduate finds a job in financial divisions and departments of domestic as well as multinational enterprises. All the knowledge and skills gained qualify the graduate to continue with studies at graduate level.

BSc. in Corporate finance
A graduate who has completed the bachelor degree in Corporate finance has elementary theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of structure and management of financial operations of a company. Attention is also paid on taxes and their impact on the corporate’s financial policy, practical approaches to dividend policy, process of investing, assets evaluation, microeconomic analysis, planning and forecasting. In connection with active knowledge of foreign languages and information technologies, a graduate is able to obtain and analyze data on financial situation of any company in the context of general economic development. A graduate is able to solve the problems of economic practice in an innovative manner, give reason for the decision and communicate the solution. A graduate is competent to work on middle and lower financial management positions in domestic and multinational enterprises, non-profit organizations and financial institutions. All the knowledge and skills gained qualify the graduate to study at graduate level.

MSc. in Finance
A graduate who has completed the master degree in Finance extends the knowledge and practical skills gained in undergraduate studies mainly in the field of monetary and fiscal theory and policy, international finance, financial markets, investment and other disciplines of financial theory and practice. A graduate understands the mechanism of domestic and international financial systems, is able to evaluate development of national and world economy including the process of European economic and monetary integration. A graduate has mastery in application of modern management methods and approaches in financial sector and is able to use appropriate tools of quantitative and qualitative analysis. A graduate is trained to make individually decisions in the financial reality and respect legal acts as well as ethical standards. A graduate is qualified to work at higher management positions in any kind of financial institution or domestic or multinational enterprises. Suitable positions for graduates can be also found in analytical departments of international monetary institutions, central banks or ministries of finance. A graduate is also capable of studying in Ph.D. programmes in Economics or Finance.

MSc. in Banking
A graduate who has completed the master degree in Banking extends the knowledge and practical skills gained in undergraduate studies mainly in the field of banking sector, monetary policy, functioning of domestic and international financial systems as well as trading in international financial markets. A graduate is able to communicate effectively in English and use modern software applications to make quantitative analyses leading to solutions of various problems of financial and economic reality. A graduate is also able to discuss all the problems, formulate conclusions and recommendations. A graduate usually finds a job in management and operations positions in banks, investment funds, insurance companies, advisory agencies and other financial institutions. A graduate is also competent to work at financial, controlling or audit departments in domestic and multinational enterprises. All the knowledge and skills gained qualify graduates to study in Ph.D. programmes in Economics or Finance.
